Welcome to Grace Canberra!The information available via this web site simply tells story after story of people committed to a cause. The cause starts and finishes in the heart of God. Our desire is to fulfil his desire. We have discovered that desire through a commitment to follow Jesus Christ. He is the reason, the pathway and the goal. As a result Grace Canberra has a unique flavour and has been shaped by the missionary purpose to which we have been called. Pursuing His glory has demanded a number of transitions for us. Even though these transitions have been difficult, we feel honoured to attempt the crossing with the possibility in our hearts that Jesus will be more greatly glorified and honoured. We do it because we expect that His commands will be more radically obeyed. We have discovered things about Jesus through the Word and the Spirit. We marvel at his patience and are mindful of his faithfulness to us. We have made mistakes and can look back and see how we could have done better, but are encouraged by the widening door of opportunity that has been opened to us. We have the sense that what we are seeking to do is important. There is a lot riding on this and as we pioneer in areas of ministry, scribing the maps as we go, we are excited to sense his pleasure. Belonging to Grace Canberra is not so much about belonging to a church as it is belonging to a Cause. The Cause is bigger than us and more important than any of our personal preferences or fears. The Cause is shaping our relationship and self selecting our priorities. We need to belong, to serve each other, love each other, forgive each other and put up with each other because it’s the only way we will have a chance of fulfilling our destiny. We want to be able to say with Paul, “I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.” As you wander through our site, it is our hope that the same Holy Spirit who has moved our hearts to want to be what Jesus is and to do what he wants done will touch your heart. We are excited about what we are seeking to do. It’s an original, not a copy. We’re not trying to be different for the sake of it. We are trying to follow Jesus and that is making us different. There is always going to be a cost in any kind of genuine discipleship and the cost of belonging to Grace Canberra will be no less than what is described in the pages of the Bible.
